Traditional Yang Family Tai Chi
There are five main styles of Tai Chi, with a number of variants. Today, Yang is the most widely practised and popular form of Tai Chi and it too has a number of variants.
The style owes its name to its founder Yang Lu Chan (1799-1872) and its popularity to his grandson Yang Chen Fu (1883-1936) whose influence shaped its form as it exists today. The characteristic features are:
Today, Yang family successors, including two of Yang Chen Fu's sons continue the heritage that he left, hence the emphasis on this being known as Traditional Yang Family Ta Chi.
